In this way networkers are able to tell the world about their business. This all has had an impact on the MLM industry but just how important is social media to MLM recruiting and how does one use it effectively?<br/><br/>What can you do with social media?<br/><br/>Connect: You can connect on just about any level by using blogs, personal emails, commenting on social pages, and even joining groups. Social media offers gives people a way of connecting with others. Build: Networkers can build new friendships and relationships. This is done by including people in your circle and joining their circle of ‘friends’ which then allows the networker access to all of those people.<br/><br/>Discuss: Talking to people is one of the main advantages of social media. Talking to people that you have met or even people that you barely know lets a networker find out what others want to discuss and to let others know what is on their mind, i.e.; their business. This can be accomplished with blogs, posts, direct messages, notes to people, audio and videos, as well simple emails through the social site.<br/><br/>Podcasts are becoming part of more mainstream thinking as a way to connect and market. As well connecting with video is becoming big in marketing. Video marketing techniques gets the attention of about two-thirds of people.<br/><br/>Peak interest: One can use social media as a way to employ attraction marketing by showing an interest in what others are doing and helping them solve a problem. Listening to what your contacts have to say is important and then one can share new ideas and possibilities that they think are of value.<br/><br/>Even though social media sites are a way to bring free traffic a networker must have a game plan and not just waste a multitude of hours clicking around all the sites. The experts say that spending 1 hour a day on social media marketing is enough and too much more than that is just a waste of time. Social sites are for building a basic relationship and directing people to a solution for their problem, i.e.: your MLM site or product.<br/><br/>One must also familiarize themselves with all the available tools for each site in order to get the most benefit and streamline the social media process. Using social media correctly is important if it is to have any effect on MLM recruiting. Just sending out birthday wishes or irrelevant messages won’t do too much for your business and people are actually becoming a little immune to this. As well, just talking about yourself won’t get a networker very far and will probably just chase people away in the long run. It’s important to actually listen to people and their needs and find people you have things in common with. Once you have found someone that you have something in common with, genuinely engage and talk about commonalities and ways to solve problems.<br/><br/>Bottom line: The MLM recruiting business is about building relationships and social media marketing can help or hurt a business depending on if it is used correctly or not.<br/><br/><br/><br/><a href='http://kansieo.com/members'>Caffeinated Content</a></div>

Then most of the people Will then connect with your interests and be willing to help you with yours.<br/><br/>2) COMFORTABLE.<br/><br/>You must get the people on the social media sites COMFORTABLE with you.<br/><br/>How?<br/><br/>Talk about them, and how you can help them reach their goals and dreams- either with what you do, or with what you know. We call it &#8220;Comfortable Conversation(TM).&#8221; You must hold online &#8220;conversations&#8221; with people and get them comfortable with you, and comfortable with staying connected with you. The recognition of people versus the tools is now more critical than ever. Although, it still isn’t necessarily embodied in many of the words and work shared by fellow Social Media Marketers.<br/><br/>Less talk, more learning and action are required.<br/><br/>There’s no shortage of people who understand and present existing and emerging Social Tools for us to use as a mechanism for “engaging” in “conversations.”<br/><br/>Participation after all, is marketing right?<br/><br/>Let’s change that.<br/><br/>Informed, mutually beneficial, and genuine participation inspires relationship marketing.<br/><br/>However, many purported Social Media experts are merely engaging in cultural voyeurism at best. They look from afar and roam the perimeters of online societies without ever becoming a true member of any society. This means, they don’t truly understand what, where, or why they’re “participating,” only jumping in because they have something to say and have access to the tools that will carry it into play. This is unfortunately a representation of the greater landscape of Social Media Marketing and it’s time to take a step back and study the sociology of Social Media in order to keep communities intact and unaffected by outsiders.<br/><br/>The future of communications requires the consideration of sociological principles when integrating Social Media into the marketing chemistry. This is one of the most important points where we simply need to stop and think about things. As in all of marketing, the most effective campaigns start with listening, reading, watching, and observing. In the world of Social Media, this is not an option. It’s dependent on Sociology and the study of people and cultures online before we even think about engaging them in conversations.<br/><br/>Again, Social Media is about sociology and not technology. This is about people and the cultures that shape respective online communities.<br/><br/>Is Social Media, we’re reminded that “listening” is the key to engagement. In Sociology, this is referred to as observation. By observing, either directly or virtually, we become Social Scientists in order to feedback intelligence and insight into the marketing loop.<br/><br/>Two basic types of observations exist:<br/><br/><br/><br/>Unobtrusive. The observer is detached and does not take an active part in the situation.<br/><br/>- Observer as participant. Observer admits their role and just observes the situation, behavior and interactions.<br/><br/>- Complete observer. Observer hides their true identity.<br/><br/>  <br/><br/>Participant. The observer joins a group and studies as an inside member.<br/><br/>- Complete. The observer hides their identity. There are a number of problems with this type of observation: ethical, is it morally right to use such methods? By joining the group the observer may alter its behavior and culture; and going native and adopting the norms and values of the group.<br/><br/>- Participant as observer. Here the observer does not hide their identity and is truthful about their goals and objectives. <br/><br/><br/><br/> <br/><br/>Most Social Media Marketing initiatives I have observed (whether I was asked to assess a company’s program specifically or simply watched a very public campaign as a student), have not observed much more than the “latest and greatest” tools that can get them in front of bubbling and active social networks and communities.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>This is the equivalent of setting up camp next to a village because you have the tools to do so and expecting the village to integrate you into their society.<br/><br/>It just doesn’t work that way.<br/><br/>Sociology provides us with an understanding of how social forces shape individual attitudes and behavior. Sociologists study society and social action by examining the groups and social institutions people form. In Social Media, these communities take the form of social networks and the communal groups within them. People form associations, friendships, and allegiances around content, objects, products, services, and ideas. How they communicate is simply subject to the tools and networks that people adopt based on the influence of their social graph – and the culture within.<br/><br/>Sociologists also study the social interactions of people and groups, trace the origin and growth of social processes, and analyze the influence of group activities on individual members and vice versa.<br/><br/>The basic goal of sociological research is to understand the social world in its many forms. Social Media, and marketing in general, could only benefit from intelligence. And at the very least, it removes the risk of “marketing at” people and instead naturally shapes a more honest, intelligent, and informative approach.<br/><br/>Quantitative and qualitative methods represent two main types of sociological research. Quantitative methods, such as social statistics or network analysis, investigate the structure of a social process or describe patterns in social relationships. Qualitative methods, including focused interviews, group discussions and ethnographic methods, reveal social processes.<br/><br/>Social Media is much more than user-generated content. It’s driven by people in the communities where they communicate and congregate. They create, share, and discover new content without our help right now. They’re creating online cultures across online networks and using the Social Tools that we learn about each and every day to stay connected. And the societies that host and facilitate these conversations cultivate a tight, unswerving and mostly unforgiving community and culture. As Shel Israel describes it, people are populating Global Neighborhoods.<br/><br/>Technology is just that, technology. The tools will change. The networks will evolve. Mediums for distributing content will grow. Social media is all about sharing and connecting. It is the use of technology combined with social interaction to create or co-create value. Twitter is just one of these web 2.0 Twitter is a perfect platform for micro blogging. Allowing you to post comments with just a few words. Ping.Fm another great tool that allows you update your post to all of your social networks at once. Social Social media provides the tools for people to collaborate and get around barriers for communication, build trust. Social Media is a collection of online tools and sites that function on the premise that people are interested in talking to and engaging with other people. The fact is that social media tools differ significantly based on culture, Internet access and online behavior. Community Community members respond quickly to request to test new tools. Community members provide reflections on their activity, which stimulates change within the group. If you use monitoring to discover a real community, perhaps one you didn’t know existed, then you’ve found a treasure trove of real opinions, reactions, reviews, etc. Social Media IS NOT SEO, but search engines DO look kindly upon blog posts/community comments/online noise. Conversation Conversations in these types of communities tend to be regulated by the needs of the community’s creator or sponsors, they are less transparent, and less valuable to the participants at hand. The ability to actually listen in on market conversations made possible by social media will drive a sea change in the market research industry, one that today’s early adopters are starting to understand. When you engage in conversations in social media it may seem overly labor-intensive compared to launching an ad campaign. These networked conversations are enabling powerful new forms of social organization and knowledge exchange to emerge. I can meet many real people and have real conversations, but it will go nowhere if we don&#8217;t connect. Relations Social media needs to be all about relationships. Which in business terms, translates to turning relationships into clients or resources. Most association executives and show producers have realized that relationship building is their greatest priority, few have tapped into the power of social media or adopted a practical plan to incorporate these solutions. When you say you do social media, and you want to launch a network of some sort, does that mean the entire process is done in-house?<br/><br/>Social media marketing can bring traffic and links to any website. Too often, marketers overlook the value of social media and tend to stick with traditional methods, while the younger generation of webpreneurs has employed social sites as an every-day strategy.<br/><br/>Social media is gowing at a such a rate that domains, websites and blogsites will increase in value due to the increased demand for webspace. Everything is social now, we just expect it. Social media companies will race to provide metrics that show impressive results, but that&#8217;s not necessarily a good thing, especially given the ways measurement may shape investment and in turn shape the evolution of social mediums.<br/><br/>Social media campaign&#8217;s go far beyond the traditional agency model of media planning and buying. Social Media marketers are communicators.<br/><br/>A good Social Media marketer knows the area. Look at it like a map. You must know the layout and the terrain. Understand the products, the people you are reaching out to, understand the industry you are promoting. An expert Social Media marketer must understand the Internet as if they are a member of the community and they know, understand and gain the trust of that community. You will fail if you do not have the working knowledge of customers, markets, and the complete picture of the company&#8217;s product. Knowing the Internet, using it most effectively and being able to distribute the information is very important.<br/><br/>Proficiency in the various social web community is the main goal of  a good Social Media marketer. One that connects, an information resource at the same time being very trustful and an active participant, a conversationalist in the social media community.<br/><br/>Ideally, a Social Media marketer, not really &#8220;marketer&#8221;, is a person with many qualities, Web Marketer, Customer Service and PR combined with genuine enthusiasm, trustfulness (listening, speaking, a conversationalists).<br/><br/>Do not let all of the tools, peer pressures, and work get in the way of the big picture, our morals and knowledge that develop significant and gratifying associations. As an expert in Social Media, we must have the ability to conclude which networks are pertinent to the product/service we represent. In an effort to improve its public image, Dell has made a conscious effort to connect with its customers through various social media channels such as blogs, forums, and various third-party websites. Dell had to appreciate that customers talked about their products online, and the company was forced to become part of the conversation. With a little help from their social media friend Dell managed to make improvements to its Latitude laptop. Note: It was a Dell laptop that exploded into flames at a conference in Japan.<br/><br/>Social media is the great equalizer as the story of Jeff Jarvis, an unhappy Dell customer, shows. Jarvis took on this giant of a company using his own blog. He managed to create awareness about customer concerns that had reached an international audience. Initially, Dell had ignored the blog voicing Jarvis&#8217; concerns until his blog became the outlet for public conversation of customer issues. His blog, the BuzzMachine, has become the focus of Dell&#8217;s mistakes, poor customer service and flawed products.<br/><br/>The blogosphere doesn&#8217;t create the problems it simply brings them to light, and it makes it possible for business to address the issues at hand. Some might argue that somehow this is a bad thing. On the contrary, with social media, companies and consumers can realize problems that need to be addressed. Customer engagement through social media could only hurt a company in the long run that is not interested in positive change. Especially in a recession, market research is an essential part of a winning corporate strategy. Businesses can use this website to get instant feedback. The community is continually engaged providing constant opinion that result in a better product. <div><em><strong>Scott Lindsay</strong> asked: </em><br/><br/><br/>Social media websites remain an interesting mechanism for mining marketing potential if for no other reasons than social media is so, well, social.<br/><br/>I came across an ezine recently that encouraged visitors to visit a celebrity social media site for an interview that was particularly compelling. Prior to posting the ezine the owner also posted several appropriate comments in both the blog and guest book. They were also listed as one of the celebrity&#8217;s friends. This may be considered groundwork for social media marketing potential.<br/><br/>One click on their photo and the visitor who came to find out more about the celebrity can find out more informal information about the business and the owner that originally sent them to the social media site.<br/><br/>This savvy business owner comes away from this gentle nudge to a celebrity social media site inextricably linked to the celebrity because of a few simple posts. Some visitors will likely view the site owner in a different light (for better or worse).<br/><br/>The combination of uses for social media sites is astounding. If there were no marketing potential in social media why do you find so many record labels, book companies, recording artists, authors and comedians with their own unique social media site? Many of these sites will also include video streaming to further interest the site visitors.<br/><br/>It is a unique twist to discover a link based on little more than inference (i.e. this celebrity is my friend) and the marketing potential such inference suggests.<br/><br/>Social media sites can become a bit like online play areas, but they can also be presented in an attractive way that is informal enough to be inviting without being so formal as to be detract from the playful nature that is suggested by the term &#8217;social media&#8217;.<br/><br/>If you can develop a popular social media site you will be pleased to see how many links visitors access and how often your blogs are replied to. There also remains a very real potential for friend requests (additional links back to your social media page &#8211; then to your primary website).<br/><br/>It may be advisable to at least do a cursory check on any and all that submit a friend request. You don&#8217;t have to know everyone who is on your friends list, but there are some good reasons to do a bit of investigating. Some who ask to be your friend may be a business that is in direct competition with you or it could be individuals who have an agenda that may only become evident through guest book posts.<br/><br/>If you ever become uncomfortable with someone you have welcomed as a friend you need to know that most social media sites allow you to remove a person from your friends list and even ban them from posting on your social media page. This may be important to know if you ever see material that is offensive or derogatory.<br/><br/>Social media can be an important marketing tool.
